Relationships Today

I do web design and online marketing and my cousin in Texas is finishing up her book on a happier relationship.  She has been on Dr. Phil a good bit also (just thought I would put that out there, I thought that was cool).  Well she hired me to do some search engine optimization for her website.  Well, I have to research keywords that people would search on troubled relationships and I was blown away by some of the results.  Not to mention that a few of my friends/family are struggling with there marriages and I have been angry at the devil for the past couple weeks for thinking he can attack my friends and family.

These numbers are on a monthly basis:

165,000 are looking to Google for “Relationship Advice” instead of God

11,100,000 people are looking for “Therapy” on Google MONTHLY

201,000 people searched “Family Therapy” on Google last month

That’s a lot of hurting right there but I started wondering how many people search google for “Jesus” and I was pleasantly surprised 20,400,000 last month worldwide.

I have seen obvious signs that the devil is attacking families right now and we need to stand up and face this spirit and take our authority and use it.  Men, don’t forget what Pastor David spoke about.  Stand up, have some back bone and lead your family to the promise land.  Don’t let the devil still your families joy.  Women, encourage your man to lead and be his spiritual cheerleader.

Please pray this with me….

Father, Thank you for all you do for our church family.  You know the families in my life that are in trouble and I take a stand for all families in trouble right now and command that the bondage and spirits be removed in Jesus name.  For the people looking for answers for mental peace about there relationship, dealing with the worst feelings of there life…..Father give them peace and wisdom for there situations.  Father I call the lost back to there husbands and wives.  Thank you for the covering you have given our church and we are thankful for the Pastor you sent us.

As the World Turns, Turns, Turns ....

So today I wanted to share something that I stumbled upon.  It seems as though anything I can find to help me understand what it is I am reading in the bible helps so I want to share a cool tool I found.  I have always struggled knowing where things in the bible took place because I haven’t been there.  I am a very visual person and I need to see it to understand it.  Umm Ryan….Hello, Faith is believing in things unseen.  I know that!  You know what I mean….I just want to get a better grasp and this website I found today may help you out as well.  Check it out at http://biblemap.org.  You can plug in a verse and it will pull the names of cities out of the text and give you landmarks on a google map so you can see where it took place.  I couldn’t pass up on telling you guys about this great bible study tool.

Be blessed and know that your answers are in that little book.

Update From Branded By Fire

My God!  That’s what comes to mind first in regards to our time here at Branded By Fire ‘09.  We are having an amazing time in the Lord.  God is breaking us, stripping us of us and refilling us with His power and glory!  Our kids have responded to altar calls to give God some of their most hidden junk, you know, the stuff that they didn’t realize anyone knew about…God knew and used some mighty men and women of God to call it out of our students.  We have seen our kids and youth leaders filled with the Holy Ghost and receiving their prayer language!  YES LORD!

We usually eat lunch around 1pm and then make a Waffle House stop after the evening services, which ends up being around midnight or later.  Well, late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning we made our usual stop into the Waffle House on Davis Highway and God was about to do something very UNusual with us.  A homeless man came into the Waffle House and immediately one of our students, Jennifer, came to me and said, “Pastor Marty, we have to help this guy.”  So we began ministering to this man and he said he needed some food.  Jennifer suggested that she would buy it and I said, “no, that’s okay, I will get it.  You will need your money for the rest of the week.”  Jennifer responded by informing me that God had really laid this homeless man on her heart and that she would pay…she added…”God will provide for me or else I can do without!”  WOW!  What faith!  Long story short…Ward and I took this young man over to the Greyhound bus station to see about getting him a one-way ticket home in hopes of getting him off the street (he has a grandma and grandpa in Panama City Beach, FL).  The bus station was closed when we got there, but I knew this scenario was bigger than a bus ticket or a hot meal for a homeless guy.  I asked this homeless guy his name (God doesn’t recognize this guy as a homeless man…he recognizes this young man as Mickey!)  Mickey shared a bit of his story and Ward and I began to pour it on thick.  Mickey gave his heart to Jesus in a Greyhound Bus Station parking lot with tears running down his face.  Glory to God!  It was around 2:30am and the bus station didn’t open til 9am.  I gave Mickey all of my information and told him to call me at 9am.  He did.  Ward and I met Mickey at the bus station and bought his one-way ticket home.  Mickey was sooooooooooo grateful!  I spoke to Mickey later on Wednesday night and he made it home to Panama City Beach.

God desires for us to love Him AND His people!  Because of one young girls compassion for people, a 29-year old man doesn’t have to spend eternity (or the present) in a devils hell!

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

“Might is in Our Midst”

Zephaniah 3:17-20 “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
18  I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
19  Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
20  At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.”

The Lord who is in our midst is MIGHTY! The first thing we should note about this scripture is it references “Lord”. This means we must realize that God is Lord; triumphant, victorious, and King over all things and all situations. Sometimes we will face circumstances that catch us by surprise. They seemingly sneak up on us and take us unprepared. We haven’t created a plan of action, thought of a series of steps to take toward victory, nor have we even begin to prepare our minds for battle. We are caught off guard by the vicissitudes of this life. But not our “Lord”! He is the beginning and the end. Nothing sneaks up on Him because He was there when the plan originated and He will be there in the end. So where is the victory won or lost? The victory is won or lost in the Now! The Lord is Lord of our beginning and He promises to be Lord of our ending but He gives us a free will and asks us to allow Him to be Lord of our now. He is not caught off guard! He has thought of a strategic plan for your victory! He has prepared the way for you to make it through… but you must choose to allow Him to be the Lord of your now!

Next we see that the scripture says that He is in the midst of us. I am reminded of when the Earth was without form and void and the Spirit of the Lord God hovered over the Earth… seemingly waiting on God to speak and give Him permissions to move and create. This is how we need to see the Spirit of God in our life and situation. He is waiting in the midst of us. Waiting for us to choose to allow Him to be the Lord over our lives and circumstances. No where in the Bible are we asked to do anything to calm our storms or quite our the boisterous winds that arise. But we are challenged to allow the Lord to do His job and that is to be Lord over every situation. He is in our midst… waiting on us to speak to Him, ask Him, and fully allow Him to Lord over our lives.

Lastly, it says that He is mighty… Powerful, strong, able, forceful… these are a few synonyms that describe the word mighty. The Lord our God is able… He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think. (Eph. 2:20) He is all powerful and He has transferred that power to us! (Luke 10:19) He is strong enough to carry any weight that we are presented! (Psalms 24:8) So remember today that no matter what you are facing that your Lord God is in your midst, at your right hand, and He is mighty to accomplish any thing you need Him to do!!!

Making History,

Pastor David Edmondson
